Seeds used for seedling propagation of guava should be collected from fine varieties, high-yielding and high-quality mother plants, and fully mature fruits. After harvesting, the fruits are allowed to rot naturally. Then the seeds are extracted, rinsed clean, and the infertile ones are removed by flotation. The qualified seeds are air-dried and sown immediately.

Although the viability of guava seeds can be maintained for more than one year at room temperature, fresh seeds have stronger viability, higher germination rate and better germination potential. Therefore, it is generally recommended to sow the seeds right after harvesting.

The seed coat of guava is hard and impermeable to water. Therefore, the duration of seed soaking and pregermination before sowing should be sufficiently long. Seeds should only be taken out for sowing when the embryos are exposed, which ensures uniform germination and a high germination rate.

Soaking the seeds in 0.1–0.3% gibberellin (GA₃) solution for 12 hours before sowing exerts a beneficial effect on shortening the germination period, increasing the germination rate, and accelerating seedling growth.

Guava seeds are small. Therefore, if sowing directly in the seedbed, the soil in the seedbed should be finely crushed and leveled. After covering with fine soil or sand, scatter the seeds evenly, and then cover them with another layer of fine soil about 0.2 centimeters thick. Cover the seedbed with straw and water it thoroughly after sowing; afterwards, water it 1–2 times a day depending on the weather conditions.

Guava can also be sown in a sand bed first. The seeds will germinate 30–40 days after sowing, and the seedlings can be transplanted into nutrient bags or seedbeds when they grow 2–3 pairs of true leaves. For seedling raising in nutrient bags, use fertile topsoil mixed with a small amount of decomposed pig or cattle manure and phosphate fertilizer. Keep the soil moist after transplantation, and start fertilizing the seedlings once a month when they reach about 10 centimeters in height.

Adaptable and Self-Fruitful: This guava variety is self-fruitful and can be kept as a small bush with pruning or grown into a 15'-20' tree. Adaptable to various climates, it thrives in USDA Zones 3-11.
