• Wildflower seeds need light to germinate, so don't cover them with soil when planting. Clear the area and work the soil before planting your seeds. It's normal for some weeds to grow with the flowers after the soil is disturbed.
• Mix your seeds with sand in a 5:1 ratio for even distribution. This also helps you see where you've already seeded. Hand-broadcast seeds for small areas, and use a seed spreader for larger ones.
• After sowing, lightly press the seeds into the soil about 1/4 inch deep to protect them from birds and wind.
